Workshop Themes

Understand their
emotions

Participants will explore what mental health truly means and how it affects their day-to-day experiences. By learning about the mental health continuum and factors that shape emotional well-being, like biological, environmental, and social influences,

to recognise and understand their own emotional responses. Through open discussions and interactive activities, this part of the workshop encourages individuals to reflect on their feelings, recognise signs of stress or anxiety, and gain clarity on how emotions impact thoughts and behaviours.

Develop
confidence

Building self-confidence is key to improving mental health. This workshop helps participants challenge common misconceptions and stigmas around mental health, allowing them to feel more empowered about their personal journey. By learning practical self-care strategies and developing emotional regulation skills, participants are guided to trust their ability to manage challenges. Activities like personal reflection, self-care planning, and understanding anxiety will help individuals feel more capable, fostering a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence.

Effective communication is vital for expressing emotions and supporting others. In this part of the workshop, participants learn the basics of active listening, non-judgmental support, and how to have open conversations about mental health. Through role-play exercises and discussions, they gain practical tools to communicate more clearly and compassionately with friends, family, and peers. This focus on communication helps reduce stigma, encourages help-seeking behaviours, and equips participants to both seek and offer support in everyday life.

Life comes with a variety of challenges, from managing anxiety to supporting others during difficult times. This section of the workshop focuses on practical strategies for recognising early warning signs of mental health struggles and developing a personalised toolkit for managing them. Participants learn how to set healthy boundaries, practice self-care, and know when to seek professional help. By understanding where to find appropriate resources and support, individuals leave better equipped to face challenges with resilience and confidence.

Paul has striven tirelessly throughout his career to transform the lives of the young people that he has worked with. Many have experienced serious levels of neglect, trauma, abuse, violence, drug and alcohol misuse and significant mental health issues.
